A Quality Source

The research I have started for this paper has been rigorous so far. Each source I found I would check the date to make sure it was recent, and then would research the author and see if they had any other work. After a lot of searching for my sources I have narrowed it down to 7 and chosen my best one to do my blog on.

The best source I found for my topic was titled, “The Effects of Social Comparison Through Social Media for Young Women and Adolescent Females with Eating Disordered Symptomatology”. This source is a dissertation and it is about young women on social media and the effects it can have, including eating disorders. The information and surveys in this dissertation is what led me to believe it is my best source. One of these facts include that studies show that 93% of young adults between ages 18 and 29, use the internet and 72% of those young adults use social media sights. This means that the chances of a young woman feeling bad about her body image or developing an eating disorder increases drastically.

The author is Quynh Chau, a professor at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. There is not a lot of information about them online, however, on Quest they have three articles including the one I chose for me research paper. The other two were about two different topics: computerized self-screen for dementia and long term tolerance of pitavastatin among patients with prior statin intolerance.
